PC unable to restart due to Norton

I have recently had a virus and uninstalled and then reinstalled Norton
Systemworks 2003. I am operating XP. I no longer have the virus and Norton
is working wonderfully, but my PC will not restart from the start button. I
have tried to restart from the Task Manager unsuccessfully as well. The
only way I can restart my PC is by manually pressing the button. I don't
understand what Norton is doing to cause this. If anyone can help me with
this or has had a similar problem, please give me some input. I could sure
use it.

What happens when you try to restart?

Are you sure the problem is Norton Systemworks, have you checked the
Symantec website, www.symantec.com for any necessary updates for Norton
Systemworks?
