PC freezing-help

After doing a repair install, incliding sp1 & 2 my pc keeps freezing. Boots
up ok, but refuses to open/ run any applications, then suddenly it jumps into
life and all the applications I previously tried to access open. I have
turned off all hibernation modes, so what is causing this

do you have anti-virus software installed?
some of them combined with sp2' tardiness can cause exactly what you
described - faster, less freezing if you wait for the OS to finish its
statup tasks


BTW you don't need sp1 to apply sp2 unless you have some applications that
does not install under SP2
