Pb VFP6 using Windows XP Pro and Windows SBS 2003 Server

Hi,

Not sure where to put this message so let's start in the Windows XP Pro
group..

Have a general problem when using a stable VFP6 application in an Windows
SBS 2003 server environment. When launching the executable on the server from
a Windows XP Pro (SP2) client, the initial opening of 50 odd tables takes a
very long time. Once the application has initailised, performance is OK (but
not brilliant).

The problem is observed on all Windows Xp Pro clients connected to the SBS
2003 server and on different SBS 2003 servers. Exchange is running on all SBS
2003 servers tested.

Have noticed that the same application works fine with a Windows 2003 Server.

Problem seems to be Windows Xp Pro/Windows 2003 Server SBS related because
loading of the application on a Windows 2000 Pro client is much faster and
performance is better.

Have tried copying the executable to the Windows XP client and running in
Windows 2000 compatibility mode, and while performance is better
(particularly when executing SQL requests) the loading time problem remains
the same.

Any ideas ?

For general information, I found that this problem is caused by the antivirus
(InoculateIT from Computer AZssociates) installed on the WXP clients. I
disactivated the network drive scan in the advanced function of the realtime
monitor (without changing the same product running on the SBS 2003 server)
and the applications now works normally.

Still don't understand why the problem only occurs with WXP clients and SBS
2003 servers.
