Patch Slipstream Failure

John J. Jobst

I have slipstreamed SP2 into Windows XP Pro. I have also slipstreamed most
of the post-SP2 updates. I am having trouble with 2 of them, KB885835 and
KB885894. The error message is: "An error occurred while attempting to
integrate this software update package. Verify that the architecture,
language, and service pack level of this software update are valid for the
target distribution folder." I have verified all of that, but the error
persists. Any help? Thanks.

This is unlikely to help you, but I am having the same trouble with:

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-038.mspx
KB834707

and

Vulnerabilities in Windows Kernel and LSASS Could Allow Elevation of
Privilege
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-044.mspx
KB885835

The message is (as already stated):
"An error occurred while attempting to integrate this software update
package. Verify that the architecture, language, and service pack level of
this software update are valid for the target distribution folder."

I verified I was downloading the correct versions of each of those patches
as well as trying from different levels of an integrated SP2 installation
point, to make sure that "order" had nothing to do with the trouble (order
in which I integrated the patches.)

Nothing has helped so far and a search has yielded no results - just people
with the same unanswered question (for other patches on previous OSes,
actually - for the most part.)

I should point out that for me, KB885894 integrated without issue.
