Passwords for web sites - please help

M

Mark

I am using Windows XP Pro and I have checked the remember
password box for a password to a web site that I want
Windows to remember. However, each time that I visit this
site I am prompted for my password. Are there instances
when Windows is not able to remember passwords?

Thank you -

Yes, some sites prevent it, such as banks.

Not only are they deleted for banks or other financial institutions, but also Porn sites!

I hope someone, preferably Microsoft, can come up with a fix
I can't even get _into_ password-protected sites using XP
I thought it might be a strange interaction between my browse
(Opera 7.23) and XP, so I tried (Ugh!) MSIE. Same result
"Invalid password" messages from my bank, Yahoo! Groups, an
every other password-protected site I subscribe to

No, I haven't forgotten my passwords. I can still get in with my ol
system, which runs Windows 98SE and Opera 7.23. I've thought o
nuking the new system with FDISK and installing Win98SE, but the C
I have is an OEM version that probably won't install on the new hardware.

Check your cookie settings, place those sites into a
preferred cookie list. See (IE, security and privacy
setting (including "web sites"))

Opera will have something similar. You may also want to
force a secure connection to banks and such.
