I have changed a password to open a access database. When I type the old
password it tells me it is not correct. Someone came in on the night shift
that did not know the new password, used the old one and it opened. Any idea
what I did wrong in changing, I opened exclusive and then went to tools
removed the old one and replaced with the new one.

If you have a shortcut on your desktop will that still remember the old
password?

It's possible to start Access with a shortcut that remembers the password.
Check out the command line string and see if there is a " /pwd " towards the
end of it with the password. However if the password was changed, the
shortcut would still need the new password.

Some other thoughts:

Is the database password protected OR do you have user-level security where
each person has their own password?

Does the new password use for you?

By chance is this some "home grown" security setup and not the standard
password security of Access?

Any 'post-it' notes left laying around with the new password on it?

Could the nightshift person be opening the wrong copy of the database?

Are you really sure that the night shift person actually got into the
database? Maybe they were mistaken.

I'd watch over their shoulder to see exactly what they did and which
database they opened.
