Password protecting files on a network drive

Our workgroup shares a network drive, where all data files are stored. I
would like to password protect certain Folders and/or files so that a
password is needed to open them. All the files I want to protect are on the
shared network drive, none are on my local hard disk. How can I accomplish
this without third party software?

1º All the user off your workgroup must have diferent
usernames and passwords (private passwords if everybody
noes the passwords no deal :) )
2º the PC that shares the network drive must have Windows
2000 or XP
3º If it has XP you must disable the simple file share
option
4º You have to create all the users with their usernames
and passwords on the PC that shares.
5º Now you goto the properties tab of each folder and
select the security tab
6º Now you can remove everybody and then add the users
you want and set permissions

measures on the server.

diferent user names and passwords ???

Everyone is the workgroup has a different user name, but we don't use
passwords to boot up our individual computers. When a computer is turned on,
it boots up fully without asking for a logon name or password.

Gee, that's a lot of work, and lots of configuration changes, just to
password protect a few files or folders. There's got to be a
better/faster/simpler way to accomplish my objective...
