Password not accepted after hibernating

After my laptop returns from hibernating I get asked to enter my logon password and this usually works fine. But ocasionally my password is not accepted and it keeps on asking me for the correct password. If I then shutdown and reboot it will accept the password

Anyone know what is going on here
