Password expires while user is logged on

Hi all,

I help on the tech support side of things for a small
company. This company has 2 domain controllers with
windows 2000 and has a member server with Exchange 2000.
Sometimes users will be working away and then they cant
access email or printers etc. What happens is there
password expires while they are logged on, all they have
to do is log off and log back on and the computer will ask
to reset the password and all is fine.

However, knowing users they always call the help desk
first. Is there away in Active Directory or group policy
or somewhere that can warn a user his password is going to
expire while he is still logged on, or is there a way to
not has the password expire while he is logged on. What
are my options? Any suggestions

Thanks

most common solution I'v seen is a login script which checks the
password age and prompts user with the number of days to password expiration

Seems like there is some function in the logon script checking for the
password expiration age field. Is there any GPO security settings enforced
for the users? As far as warning users of the possible lockout, you can
configure the "interactive logon message" GPO setting and write a custom
warning telling users of the situation. It will display the message before
users would try to log on to the machine by pressing cntrl - alt - del
