partitioning and duel boot

I understand to duel boot with windows I have to install
win 98 and then win xp. Now I have PartitionMagic 8, and
I have win xp on my computer. Do I have to uninstall win
xp, then install win 98 followed by win xp, or can I
partition and then install win 98 while win xp is in my
computer. Thanks for any help.
