Partition on hard disk

I have got one large 60GB hard disk all on one C: drive.
I would like to manage my data in different drives like c:, D: etc.

Can Microsoft help me in this, without making me buy any additional software?

The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.

Otherwise, a "clean install" of Windows XP will be required
since you'll have to delete the existing partition and create
new individual partitions.

It is possible to partition a hard drive with XP, but it is a very major
process at this stage for you.

At the installation of XP one has the option to partition etc: this would
mean that all the data is lost and all applications.

If you don't want to spend the $ 100 or whatever it costs for Partition
Magic, then consider how long it will take to backup, all your files,
reinstall XP, reinstall all applications, reinstall all patches and service
pack 2, then load in your personal files.

Spend the money! Buy PM.
