Paging file

Cannot set virtual memory so it will stay. Get paging
error on start, every time. Set custom size to 766-1152
and reverts to 256MB allocated. Recommended size is 1147.
Thanks.

Are you by any chance running NAV 2004 with Autoprotect on during system
boot?

To disable the Auto-Protect advanced option, perform the steps provided
below:

1. Start Norton AntiVirus (NAV).
2. Click on Options.
3. Double click on Auto-Protect under System.
4. Click on Advanced.
5. Under 'How to increase Windows start up protection' uncheck 'Load
Auto-Protect during system boot'.
6. Click on OK.
7. Restart the computer and check whether the issue persists.

To check whether your Norton AntiVirus is working properly, you can perform
an EICAR test. Refer to the link provided below to perform an EICAR test:

What does disabling NAV have to do with not being able to create the
pagefile?

Dean, Just a couple of questions with regards to your
problem. How much RAM do you have? and When you change
the page file size do you click on "set" Also do you do a
defrag before altering the pagefile size?

I have 768 MB ram. I did click the "set", then "apply" and
finally, "OK". Have not done a defrag but will do one over
night. Also, was running NAV 2003. Could not enable
autoprotect or email screening. Symantec site had
uninstall and reinstall and now I cannot get that reloaded
because of the on-line upgrade I got cannot be re-
downloaded.

Thanks!

It's a known problem with NAV2004 - cannot change pagefile size -- also
recreates (& moves) pagefile on every reboot
