Page File Size

What is the recommended page file size if i have 512MB on my laptop. I have
moved my page file to anothere partiton on my harddrive and there is no page
file now on C: Drive. Can it effect system performance?

Let the system manage the size. How much you need depends on what kind of
programs you use.

Windows may create a pagefile on the C drive during bootup. Having a
pagefile in another partition is more cosmetics than anything else.

Unless you have another HDD in your machine, there is no benefit in moving
the page file to another partition.

It's even worse than "no benefit." There's a performance *penalty* for doing
so. It moves the page file farther from the other frequently-used data on
the drive, and increases head mevement to and from it. That *hurts*
performance.

Yes, I could have been more positively negative :^>.

On the defragmenter bar chart I see an unmoving file, which seems to be
placed in the centre of the partition, which I took to be the page file. In
my case that is quite far from the activity area as I have a 30GB drive with
only 4GB used. Perhaps you can confirm that the bar chart is a good
representation of the position of files and the unmover is the page file?
