"Page cannot be displayed"

My IE connection appears to time out after a couple of
hours and I get a "Page Cannot be Displayed" error.
Rebooting my system (WinXP Home) fixes the problem
temporarily, then it times out again. Outlook exhibits
the same behavior; can't send/receive mail, but rebooting
resolves the problem for a while.

I've got a cable modem and a wireless router. Even when
IE and Outlook are failing, I can "ping" web sites by
either their name (www.google.com) or their IP address -
everything works great, so it appears that I have
connectivity all the way from my system, through the
router and the modem. A laptop that I have cabled to the
same router never times out.

One other thing - this whole setup worked great for over
a year, then started this behavior. I can't think of
anything I've changed or installed that would interfere
with the network setup.

Thanks for any help.
