Oversized PST, Now OL Won't Behave

A couple of days ago, my Outlook.PST file outgrew the size restriction (2GB),
and my e-mail began serving errors and crashing. I've since reduced it and my
e-mail is working again, but I'm still having other OL problems.

I can add an event to my calendar and the date shows bold (noting an event
is logged), but the event won't show on my daily calendar and I can't edit it
(since I can't see it) and I don't receive alarms any more.

Almost all of my contact also had their e-mail addresses stripped out, even
though for many of them the e-mail address still shows in the preview (before
I double-click a contact to open it up). The e-mail address is also gone from
the auto-fill. I have the Plaxo add-in installed and even though I tell it to
sync, it won't update the e-mails. They're still alright in Plaxo Online
though. None of the Plaxo members are listed as such either. I tried
re-installing the Plaxo add-in to no avail.

I also can't delete any To Do items from before the PST fiasco. I can check
the check box, but it won't register or delete the item from my To Do list.

This has made Outlook almost useless to me. Is there any way for me to fix
this?

I'm running Outlook 2000 on Win98SE. I have all of the latest patches
installed.

The first thing I would try is taking a backup of the PST file, then run
scanpst against it. That would fix any inconsistencies that might have
arisen from running over 2GB.

Next thing I would try is to create a new PST, then copy everything from
the old to the new one.
