Outtlok 2007 slow to connect to exchange server

I'm trying to find ways to speed up the connection time when my Outlook
starts up and connects to the exchange server account.

On my laptop (2.5ghz core2duo Dell Latitude with 4Gb RAM, Vista Ultimate
x64) I'm using Outlook 2007. When I first start it, it can take 1 to 2
minutes before it prompts me for the userid/password to allow me to connect
to the exchange account, then once it's accepted the credentials, another 1
to 2 minutes before it shows as connected to the exchange server. The laptop
has plenty of free RAM and is just idling at 5 percent so is not under any
stress.

On my desktop PC (custom built, 2.4ghz quadcore with 8Gb RAM, Vista Ultimate
x64), the identical Outlook 2007 account takes seconds to connect.

They use identical add-ins, and the account settings are identical. Using
wifi or wired ethernet makes no difference. I've tried disabling the add-ins
to see if that makes a difference but it tells me they cannot be turned off
(The connected state of Office Add-Ins regsitered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
cannot be changed).

Can anyone suggest ways to improve time it takes to connect to the server?
I've done a lot of searching but not found anything that has improved it. I
tried an Office 2007 pdate (KB933493) but it said it couldn't find an
applicable product. I have Office 2007 Small Business Edition pre-installed.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Mike
