Outlook XP Install Error

M

Matt Harmon

I recently removed Microsoft Outlook 2003 Beta from my machine. I went to
put Office XP on my machine. I have a fully license Office XP Pro that I
used. Upon installing the software I have a problem with Outlook. I get an
error when I start the tool...

Outlook.exe - Unable to locate DLL

The Dynamic link library MAPIR.dll could not be found in the Specified path

--After clicking "OK" I get this box...

Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Mapi32.dll is corrupt or the wrong version.
this could have been caused by installing other messaging software. Please
reinstall outlook.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I have tried running the fixmapi.exe
and reinstalling Outlook.

Thanks

Close Outlook - then find and delete the MAPI directory (not the MAPI32
one.) Then reinstall Outlook.

Thank you for the help. I now can get into outlook but upon opening it I
get this message:

Could not Initialize CLR
file or assembly name iris.mapi.messagestore, or one of its dependencies,
was not found.

Any suggestion for that?

Sounds like the Business Contact Manager is still installed. Uninstall it
from Control Panel. (Iris was the beta name for the BCM)

Hi there,

Ok, i was able to get rid of that message and i got rid of the BETA
completely (I think/hope). But now when when clicking Send/Receive I get a
box that says Operation Failed. However I can download the mail by clicking
tools->send/receive and then click on the account. I cannot click all
accounts. Also clicking ctrl+alt+S does nothing.

can you help me solve this?

Thanks.

Matt

Ran in to similar problems. I ended up going to Microsoft's knowledge base.
Look for article 329929, while the problem it describes isn't exactly what
you are describing it tells you how to completely remove Outlook. and
reinstall.

Doing this procedure eliminated most of my problems with the exception being
able to use my Contact Folder for addressing email, I've tried several
different ways but the I still cannot chose to view the address as email
Addressbook, the option is greyed out.

Resolved problem with Contact - Address Folder. Went to control panel -
Mail, deleted existing profile(s). Start Outlook and created new profile &
recreated email account(s). So far everything is working the way it was
designed.
