Outlook won't receive mail since SP2 update

Anyone else having this issue? I can send, but it won't receive. I am
receiving mail in Mailwasher, so I know my network connection and mail
settings are correct. Outlook keeps saying it cannot download from my mail
servers. My husband is still running Outlook with SP1 and he doesn't have
any issues (same mail server).

Have you tried to uninstall mailwasher, reboot, and then see if you can
receive email? The reason that I ask is that some programs act as an agent
between Outlook and the mail server to ensure that bad things don't get in
thru e-mail. The update to Outlook might have thrown mailwasher off
temporarily.

Still no joy. I can't send email now either, as previously thought. I have
tested the connection to my email servers and they work - it is only with
Outlook that I can't send or receive, and this just started after downloading
and installing SP2.

Do you have anything else installed that can act as a middle man between
Outlook and the mail server? For example, antivirus that scans e-mail.

Also make sure you double check your account settings in Outlook after
installing these middle man programs. They might restore the wrong settings
for your mail account.

I disabled my virus scan (McAfee) but it still wouldn't send or receive
email.

I am at a loss. My husband spent several hours working on it too (he was in
IT for years) and no luck.

rather than disable mcafee. uninstall it and reboot. then check your
outlook settings via the mail applet in the control panel and make sure they
are right.
