Outlook won't launch

I am using Office XP Professional. Today, for the first time ever, I cannot
get Outlook (2002, I think) to open. It hangs up about mid-way through. I
tried reopening in safe mode...that didn't work. I tried opening from the
Start Programs menu...no good. I also tried detect and repair...that didn't
work. After reading some other message boards, I tried renaming the
outcmd.dat file and the two *.srs files...didn't work either (and I since
returned them to the original file names). The only thing I've done
differently in the past few days was to download and install some Windows
updates. No other Office products seem to be giving me problems. Any ideas?

Although you've done some of the things listed, see if something here helps:
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/outlookdoesntstart.htm . Also make sure
it's not a case of Outlook not closing the previous time. See
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/outlookdoesntclose.htm
