Outlook with Wireless

Hi,
Can anyone help? I have my computer set up with a USB wireless adapter and Netgear router for boradband access. The internet and all programs that require internet connection work fine - except Outlook. Until recently it was working fine but now each time I try to Send/Receive I get an error message saying that it is unable to connect to the server. I've not changed anything and have tried fiddling with the connection settings including trying to connect through the LAN, the broadband setting, or internet explorer's dialer, as I don't know how it was originally set up. None of these have solved the problem and I'm really stumped.
Please can someone make a suggestion?!?
Thanks,
Dave

From your computer, can you ping the name of the POP server you're trying to
connect to? Same with the SMTP server? Even if you get "request timed out",
does it return an IP address?

Assuming that you are using Windows 2000/XP, check your network connections
folder to see how the USB wireless adapter is being recognized. (My guess
is that it is considered a Local Area Connection (LAN)). As for the
connection problem, do you have McAfee (or any type of antivirus) software
installed that tries to scan POP mail. If yes, uninstall it temporarily to
see if the problem resolves itself. (I know that McAfee but out a bad
update a while back that kills POP connectivity. Not sure if it has been
resolved.)

You also might want to take a look for any updates that you have applied to
your operating system. For example, the Zero Wireless Configuration update
for Windows XP might not be right for the wireless solution you have. (The
update isn't real friendly to my netgear cards.)
