Outlook will not connect when internet source is VZAccess Manager

When my last laptop's power monitor died, I was moved over to a Lenovo T61
Thinkpad. Everything seemed to work correctly, until I attempted to use
Outlook 2007 when connected to the internet through VZAccess Manager v6.9.0
(with my BB as the modem). My internet works completely fine, but Outlook
refuses to connect through this internet source. I am able to connect just
fine when using any other internet source, including public wireless networks
and my company's wireless network. I used to be able to connect to Outlook
via VZAccess Manager on my old computer, so I know it should work. Does
anyone have any ideas? Perhaps a configuration is set wrong? Any ideas or
suggestions are MUCH appreciated! Thanks!

More Information:

I'm running Vista, if that matters to anyone. I've attempted to "repair"
the connection under "Account Settings". The repair process fails on the
step "Search for (e-mail address removed) server settings". It gives me the option
to "Connect using", which I tried changing to "Verizon Wireless - VZAccess" -
no dice, still fails on the "Search for server settings" step.

When I check the box "Manually configure server settings or additional
server types", I get a "More Settings" option. This is set to automatically
detect the connection state. I changed the "Connection" tab to "Connect
using my phone line", with the modem "Verizon Wireless - VZAccess", which
still doesn't work and now states that there's no dial tone whenever I
restart VZAccess Manager (even though it still connects to the internet).

When I click on the "Properties" box, I have two COM ports checked (COM3 and
COM4). Everything else seems to be set as expected. Any ideas?
