Outlook Today has disappeared...

Deep Thought

Do not know what the hell my Outlook 2000 is up to but I noticed today that
when it starts up my default view in the main panel is "Personal
Folders".... the short cuts down the left column (e.g. Calendar,
Contacts...) work but the Outlook Today shortcut takes me back to the
Personal folders display.... how do I get my Outlook Today view back?
If I click on the Outlook Today button on the toolbar I get a message
"Outlook could not start because a location to send/receive email could not
be found..." - refers to the Mail option in control panel to change
settings.... this might be a clue?
(I use Outlook Express for email/newsgroups and after recently reinstalling
Outlook 2000 I notice that my address book in OE has disappeared - possibly
been deleted. A search for .wab files on my HDD shows ONE file (size 100KB
which seems smaller than I remembered it...) - so I tried importing it back
into the OE address book. The action was confirmed as complete but still the
address book is empty).

Configure the page you want Outlook Today to use in the Properties of the
Personal Folders file > Home Page Tab.

You did not state what mail support mode of Outlook 2000 you are using and
whether you had configured OE to use your Outlook Contacts as its data
source.
Open the Address Book in OE, go to Tools > Options... and see if re-enabling
sharing restores your address book. You may not have been using the WAB at
all, but you are the only one who could know what you were doing before.

If I go to the properties section of Personal Folders the home page section
is empty (and I would not know where to point it to to set it to be Outlook
Today)

Outlook is set for Corporate/Workgroup

Then browse to the location. Usually its:
res://<drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\1033\outlwvw.dll/outlook3.htm
