Outlook sends mail from Auction Sage IF Outlook is closed, NOT ope

I've racked my brain trying to figure this one out. I use Auction Sage as an
auction management system, which entails sending emails to buyers from the
program. It worked perfectly before I changed to Outlook 07, but not since. I
can get the emails to send with Outlook 2007 only by closing it before I try
to send the message via Auction Sage. If I try to send the message while
Outlook is open, AS freezes, and I get this error message:

Error #2147417848 |Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
Make sure MAPI is enabled in your Default Email Client

Also, even if Outlook 2007 is closed, if I don't wait awhile before trying
to send the AS email, it still hangs. It's as if Outlook is still open in the
background.

I'm hoping someone can help me fix this.

outlook takes up to 2 min to close properly.... so the second observation is
correct. No idea on why it doesn't detect outlook 2007 though.

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured as much, although it doesn't show up
in Task Manager as still being active. That seems strange. Now if someone can
just help me get Outlook to accept the email call while it is open!
