Outlook Send Errors Received

The following errors are listed when there is nothing in the outbox or no
notification of a read receipt. Is it possible to find out where the
activity is coming from or what message or program is trying to send
information?

Task 'mail.comcast.net - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The
operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If
you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'

Task 'mail.comcast.net - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is
unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to
receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service
provider (ISP).'

Task 'mail.comcast.net - Sending' reported error (0x800C8105) : 'Unknown
Error 0x800C8105'


I know that my cable modem has been restricted from sending due to a virus.
I think that I know which message is causing the problem. (i.e. the problem
shows up when this message is read) Is there a way to look behind the scenes
to see what is causing this?
