outlook reboots when I atempt to configure the signatures

G

Guest

I have a client... whenever she attempts to change her signature, her outlook
freezes and reboots. It does this whenever she attempts to change the
account for the signature, seeing that she already has one configured for
another account. What needs to be done?

Thank you for the prompy reply.

Okay... I was following the instructions and I got the following error when
I set the profile to be used as the new one:
RUNDLL
An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,
Control_RunDLL "C:\PROGRA~1|COMMON~1\System\MSMAPI\1033\MLCFG32.CPL", @0"

Wat does this mean?

Also, I cannot add an exchange account to the new profile, it only seems to
get added to the old one. I'm assumming this is because I cannot set the new
one as the default profile.

Another thing (and probably the most important one)... even in the new
profile, when I attempt to configure/set-up the signatures in Mail Format -
Outlook "encounters a problem" and needs to reboot.

Thanks in advance. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Luke

If you cannot set the new mail profile to be used how did you start Outlook
with it then? Or am I missing something here?

The following makes me believe that you are still in the old mail profile;
"I cannot add an exchange account to the new profile, it only seems to get
added to the old one"

Also do things work correctly when you logon to that machine as a different
user?

Thanks again for the response.
I configured the setting, in Control Panel/Mail/Profiles, to let me choose
which profile to use when Outlook opens. I just can't set the new profile as
the default in Control Panel/Mail/Profiles.
Therefore, when I add an Exchange account, it will not add it to the new one
- since I cannot set it as the default profile... also because Outlook must
be closed when creating an Exchange email account.
I have not yet attempted to log on as a different user... I will do that
right now and let you know...
Okay. Just created a new profile, logged on, created an email account with
Exchange and a third-party POP account... then I opened Outlook - Tools -
Options - Mail Format and I attempt to configure a signature and..... it.....
freezes..... and tells me that Outlook encountered an error and needs to
close..... then it reboots Outlook. Gnarly Problem... Please help.

Thanks,
Luke

Sounds like it is not an issue with the configuration of the user then. At
this point you might want to do a repair on Office and (re)apply any
available updates for Office.

SO i performed a detect and repair, and it "completed successfully". Then, I
went to Office Update and it told me that the machine did not need any
updates... so I went ahead and downloaded and installed a few fixes. The
problem was not fixed.

What else do you suggest?
