Outlook pst file not compatible

T

TN

I have to re-install Windows XP and Office XP 2002. Now I
could not open a *.pst file due to "the *.pst file ... is
not compatible with this version of Personal Folders
Information service..."
I check the site and was told to use Outlook 2003 to
create a new pst file compatible with Outlook 2002.
The problem is that we don't have Outlook 2003.
Is there any way to open it with Outlook 2002.
Thanks.

Did you ever have Outlook 2003? If so, and the PST in question was created
with Outlook 2003, that's the only way you'll be able to read it and create
a compatible PST. If not, you have a different problem. Make sure your PST
isn't stored on a CD and make sure if it ever was stored on a CD that the
read only flag has been cleared.

I am unable to import my personal file folder. The
dialog box says
"File access is denied. You do not have permission
required to access the file.pst.
I exported it using the wizard. I never protected it
with a password.
The problem was noticed after I reformatted the hard
drive and reinstalled Outlook 2002.
Please Help!!!!!

Did you back it up to a CD? If so, copy it back to the hard drive. Right
click and choose Properties. Clear the Read Only checkbox.
