incompatible .pst files?

Im trying Import old .pst files onto my PC. I get this error message:

" File is not compatible with this version of Personal Folders Information
Service. Contact your administrator."

I have Outlook 2002 and the .pst files are from Outllook 2003.

Do i have to upgrade to 2003 or later to get these .pst files to load?

Thank you

Files created by Outlook 2003 are not compatible with earlier versions
unless you expressly create the PST file in "Outlook 97-2002" format (you
always have that option).
Importing is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. Open files,
don't import them.

What do you mean by "open files"?

You are trying to open a Unicode (Outlook 2003) PST with an earlier version
of Outlook and that simply won't work. Why was this so unclear to you the
last time I said it?

Your only choice is to use Outlook 2003 to create an ANSI PST compatible
with Outlook 2002 and earlier and transfer the contents of the PST you have
to the ANSI PST, which then can be used in your version of Outlook.

There is a solution to that in Microsoft articale 839109
In outlook 2003 you need to go to file - data file management then
click add then choose the earlier version of outlook and move your data
manully from that pst to the created one
