Outlook overpowering CPU usage

Edward Owen

Have a PC that is running extremely slow. Running XP and Office XP.

If Outlook is open, when I pull up the task manager, I see that the cpu
usage is fluctuating wildly between Outlook and Ieexplore. Neither are
doing any active tasks, but can (between them) have 80-95% of the cpu usage
going at any one time. On a similar PC that is running smoothly, these only
take up 0-3%.

Any thoughts on how to end this overuse of memory? It seems to only happen
on this one PC in our office. Spyware and Virus definitions are up to date.

Thanks!

Try disabling any Outlook integrated ant-virus and see if cpu usage goes to
something reasonable.
