Outlook "news is not in the "Go" menu

OK, it's my mistake, when I installed Office and Outlook,
I went to add the news group icon to the go menu but
missed, it became part of the tool bar but didn't work.
I got it removed, not sure how, but now I don't have
the "news" icon in the Customize/Go menu to add it to the
Go menu. Suppose that's as clear as mud, maybe others
who made the same mistake, there must be one, could help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Pretty much have the same problem here. If I figure something out I'll be sure to post it.

It is to me. I had the same problem. I tried to set up a
second profile. The NEWS was not available in the customize
menu. It also did not appear on the menu where I placed it.
Is there another way to get to news groups without the
news item. Apparently, when the news reader is setup once,
a flag is set and you do not have a choice in the future to
change it. Also when you move (customize) a command to the
menu bar, it actually removes it from the available item on
the customize lists. If a work around is found PLEASE post
it here. I can't get to my news groups, nor can my spouse,
which really makes it difficult.
Thanks,

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You may need to reset the Menu Bar and/or restart Outlook and/or reboot your
machine in order to complete the process. Not everyone is reporting success
with this method, but try it and see what happens. If all else fails, you
can always create a desktop shortcut to Outlook Express and include the
/outnews switch -- that gives you the same result as accessing the
newsreader via the News command in Outlook.
