Outlook merge and import

Sal

Good morning
I have Outlook 2003 and the contacts book contains a lot of addressess. I
have set up a database in Excel and would like to import these into outlook,
but not in the same area as all the other contacts - perhaps a sub-folder.
Also am I able to send an email message to people using an Excel database as
the datasource? Many thanks for your halp.

In Outlook, click File>New>Folder and create a new folder that contains
"Contact Items". It does not have to be a subfolder, but you can make it one
if you wish. You can then import the Excel data into that folder. Excel
files are not databases, however. They're spreadhseets or text files. It's
easier to import a CSV (comma-separeated values) file that it is a spreadsheet
(xls) file, but either works.

Sure. An Excel spreadsheet can be the source of a mail merge.

Hi Brian
Many thanks for the info on the sub-folder. Where do I start in order to
use my Excel spreadsheet as the datasource. If I write the email message in
Outlook how do I get it to send using the Excel list of email addresses?
Thanks. S

Start your mail merge from Word.
