Import Outlook Contact into a Public Folder

I need to consolidate and import all Outlook (2003) Contacts from all
employees at our corporate and field offices into one Public Outlook folder
in our exchange server. (I'm guessing we'll end up with about 4000
contacts.) I've been advised that in order to do this, I need to export the
employees' contacts into Excel and then import into the Public Contacts
Folder. Is there another less painless way of doing this?

Drag and drop works every time!

How many employees are you talking about? If it's a few, go around and do
it at their PC.
