When I open Outlook 2003 I get an error message saying: An extension filr
failed to initialize. Can't open the file: extend.dat. It also says the file
may not exist. How do I correct this problem?
I saw your response previously that said:

Might want to check this location under Windows 2000/XP.

\Documents and Settings\<USERID>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

If extend.dat does exist, just rename the file to extend.bak while Outlook
is closed. Launch Outlook and it will rebuild this file from information in
the registry.

/neo

But where do I find:\Documents and Settings\<USERID>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook?
Thank you

Hiya,

1st you will need to set your computer to show hidden ffiles and folders, to do this open up my computer then go to Tools, Folder options. Click the View tab and then towards the bottom of the screen it should say 'show hidden files and folders' just tick this then apply, you will then need to go to the following location on you hard drive:

C:\Documents and Settings\Profile_name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Profile_name being the name of the user account you logon to windows. You should then see the file in question. Hope that helps.
