I cannot open my Outlook to get at achieved emails. It says I need to use
Microsoft Office Outlook Inbox Repair file labeled “scanpst.exeâ€. So I went
to the C drive opened “Program files†and then opened “Microsoft Office†and
then opened “Office 12†and found “SCANPST†a 38 kb application. I double
clicked on it and it says …. Enter the name of the file you want to scan so I
browsed this way ……. Local disk C\ documents and settings\user name\local
settings\application data\ Microsoft\outlook ……. and under “*pst:*ost†there
are no files. So then I clicked “all Files (*.*)†and while six files appear
none are pst files … my instinct tells me I need to find a file called
“archive.pst†, but I cannot find it. Help please. By the way I did try to
click on the SCANOST application and it says Offline synchronization is not
supported for yoru mailbox and I have no idea what that means … again please
help.

Unless you are using Exchange server in cached mode, don't worry about
scanost - its not for you.

What files did you see in the folder you browsed to?
In Control panel, mail - data files, what folder are the pst files in?

See http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/scanpst.htm for more info.

oh my I just had th Ah Hah!!! moment or the Groucho Marx magic word winner
... the magic word is "Control Panel / Mail" ..... I click in there and I
found the elusive "achive.pst" file ... then went out and made sure that I
had all files including hidden files shown option on and it worked ... now
the INBOX repair is munching its way through Phase 1 of 8 --- God only
knows
how long this will take , but so far I am a happy camper ... thank you
