Outlook has trouble shutting down

When I closeout outlook then try and shut the computer
down it tells me it is having trouble shutting outlook
down and it gives me a choice to "end now" but that
doesn't even help. The only thing that I can do is shut
the computer off or go into task manager and look at
outlook in the prcoesses and shut it down that way in
order to turn off the computer. Any suggestions?

I don't have a solution to your problem, but I wanted to let you know you
are not the only one with it.

I always back up my PST file when I am done working. Recently, I found I
was unable to do so. The copy command would tell me that the PST file was
in use by another process. When I checked task manager (I use WinXP) it
seems to say that even though I have exited Outlook, it is still runing as a
process in the background.

I'd dearly like to know why this is.
