outlook express patch

Twice now, Norton Anti-Virus has displayed a warning that it has detected
and delted the MHTMLRedir.Exploit virus on my computer. I don't know what is
causing this to happen, and I don't know if this virus will do any harm. All
I am doing is browsing the web and then all the sudden a virus alert message
appears. A full system scan has been run and nothing has been found. On the
alert message a link was provided to a patch on the Microsoft page that I
could download. I am referred to the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-013
page. The only patch I can download is for Outlook Express. I have
determined that the Outlook Express version that I have is version 6. I
downloaded the patch and tried to install it only to receive an error
message that says Outlook Express 6 is requires to be installed. This makes
no sense because obviously Outlook Express 6 IS installed. Here are my
questions: what I can do to stop getting this virus alert? How can I install
this patch that is supposed to be for Outlook Express 6?

Try posting this in an Outlook Express news group - this is not one of them.
Outlook is a part of Microsoft Office and is what this group supports.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and has its own news groups.

Do you use Outlook Expresss? If not , remove it from the add/remove programs
and then add/remove windows components. If you do use OE, try deleting recent
emails up to the time that the displays have been popping up.

You also will want to ensure that your Live Update files are up to date, and
do a full system scan again.
