Outlook Express & New Users

Got Windows XP Pro.

:)

Have now set up users.

Can anyone tell me how to migrate an Outlook Express Identity accross to the
User log in that now been set up for them without losing existing e-mails in
their inbox, please?

When user logs in and tries to use Outlook Express they are told they have
no internet connection and identities remain available only on main
'Administrator' login.

Me confused!

Each user has there own unique Main Identity. Do not confuse that with the
Administrator Main Identity.

If user's e-mails are under their own personal folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{UNIQUE CLSID NUMBER}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Once the user has logged in and opens Outlook Express, their Folder
structure is created for them.
However, the Administrator has to setup the Internet Connection
configuration and set it to be used by all users on the system.

The Internet Connections have nothing to do with each user's unique e-mail
folder. The folder only contains e-mails and folders in support of the
login account.

When you setup the Internet Connection for this system, did you specify for
All Users?

Thank you evr so much for your response.

Soon as I've finished typing this, I'll have a rummage round to see if the
internet connection is main user only.

I really can't remember what the wizzard said during the set up operation
which was provided by the ISP.

I'll reply again afterwards.

Thanks again for your very kind assistance.

Hi, NewScience,

Thank you for your patience.

Grabbed a bite.

Now been in and had a look around.

Followed the pathway you described.

Found the identities for myself, wife and three kids!

:)

Explored each one in which I discovered exactly what you said would be
there, a number of differing files which I presume has the needful within.

Having set up the new user and got internet access for my wife, as that new
user, I am now faced with 'Importing', if that's the right word, all her
stuff from the Outlook Express identity she had in my own main user set up
under the old operating system and which I have now on the XP operating
system.

There seems to be an import function with a browse button but how do I
figure out which CSLID number belongs to which identity, please?

Clearly I don't want to bring accross daughter's stuff to wife's Outlook
Express!

However, the file types are like none I've encountered before and the
folder, as you pointed out, has only that code as its name.

:-I

Once again, thank you for taking the time to help me.

Regards.

I'm not NewScience, but Tom Koch's canonical website about Outlook
Express will answer all your questions.

Afterwards, if you have more questions about using Outlook Express you
can post to the OE newsgroup:
