Hi,
I have been trying to export my emails form outlook express 6.0 so I could
have a backup however I have been receiving the following message every time:
"The Export could not be performed
An error occured while initializing MAPI"
Could you please let me know how to solve this issue,
I have XP home edition SP2 on my computer.
Thanks in advance,
Firouz

Export is for exporting to Outlook or Exchange, either of which have to
be installed for this to work.
What you need is the following -
http://www.insideoe.com/backup/index.htm

OE specific newsgroup for future reference.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

Go to the Tools Menu, choose Options.
Choose the General Tab.
Down the bottom there is a section marked 'Default Messaging Programs'.
Click on the button marked 'Make Default'.

The error message that the OP is receiving does not imply that OE is not
the default messaging program, so your suggestion will not make any
difference. He is trying to backup his mail, but export does not work if
he does not have Outlook (not Outlook Express) or Exchange installed.

Hi Kath,
Thanks for the advise, you have well understood my problem. I checked and OE
was already default mail, so I am following your suggestion of using back
program,
Best Regards,
