OUTLOOK.EXE remains active in WTM after closing

I have added my original question (bottom) and the thread received. Anyone
have any ideas?

I tried your suggestion, but have exactly the same results - Note: that since
I have setup Word as the default, WINWORD.EXE opens along with OUTLOOK.EXE in
WTM, WINWORD.EXE drops when I close Outlook, but OUTLOOK.EXE remains. If I
open it again, either "normally" or using outlook.exe /safe, it just adds
another entry into the WTM. As for downloading large E-mail files, I am
running a Broadband, and can also check my mail via Webmail, never had a
problem. By the way, Outlook Express does not exhibit the “problemâ€, but I
need the capabilities of Outlook vs. Outlook Express. This one has me
baffled.

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click
either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support
for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Cover Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background
to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing
mail.

Milly,

Been there and tried that plus
[http://www.slipstick.com/problems/close.htm]. Nothing seems to work. I'll
keep plugging away, and IF I find the reason I will be sure to post it.
