outlook contacts folder as attachment

Kevin

hi,

Outlook2000 SP1, win2k

is it possible to send an outlook contacts folder as an attachment?

I have a subFolder in my contacts folder with about 20 email addresses. I
drag the folder into an email message and it places an attachment icon in
there -- the file has a xnk extension -- I send it okay, but the recipient
doesn't seem to have any luck dragging it into her contacts folder.

I have them in an excel file as well and am able to send them that way --
but it would be nice for us to create contact folders and then swap them.

thanks

Clarify what you mean.
Do you mean that you have a subfolder with 20 Contact Records?
If all you have is 20 email addresses, that sounds more like a Distribution
List.

thanks Russ.

I see from yer message that I basically needed to take another step of
creating a DL and then sending that as an attachment -- which I just did and
it worked fine.

just out of curiosity -- it did allow me to drag the contacts subFolder into
a new message box and created an attachment with an .xnk extension -- what
is an xnk file, why did it attempt that? When we tried to drop the xnk
attachment onto the Contacts folder -- it basically opened a create a new
contact dialog?

no biggy

thanks

No idea because I can't repro that behavior in any of the current versions
of Outlook. I suspect it is trying to create a link to your Contacts Folder.
If you were actually trying to send a Contacts Folder, then you would place
it in its own PST file, then send that PST file as an attachment.
