Outlook Contacts and E-mail "Select Names"

J

Jeffrey Evans

I have lost the link or connection between my Contacts or
Outlook address book and my Outlook e-mail. I am using
Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office XP
Professional (Office 2002).

Both Windows XP and Microsoft Office XP were loaded on my
new computer a month or so ago and everything was working
fine. But I think I somehow deleted or removed a file or
link between my Outlook Contacts(or Outlook "Address
Book") and my e-mail "Select Names" box which I use when
I click of "To" or "CC".

So, now when I am trying to do any e-mail in Outlook, if
I click on the "To" or the "cc" icon to the left of the
recipient fields, the "Select Names" box opens, but there
are no names or e-mail addresses shown. The box is
completely blank in all of the fields therein. (But all
of my Contacts are still listed in the Contacts folder of
the Outlook program).

I used my Office XP disc to try to repair and reinstall
Office XP and in both cases I got the following message:

"Error 1919 - Error configuring ODBC data source: MS
Access Database, ODBC error 6: Component not found in
the registry. Verify that the file MS Access Database
exists and that you can access it."

Can anyone advise or shed any light on what I need to do
to rectify the lost link between my e-mail "Select Names"
box and my Contacts database? I would greatly appreciate
it.

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book. If it is not listed, back up one step
and add it. If it is, then click on Change. to make sure the Contacts
folder(s) you want to display are listed. You may need to enable the
Contacts Folder as an e-mail address book by R clicking the Folder >
Properties and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box.
Make sure you restart Outlook after making these changes.
