Background Info:
System running on G:
OS=Win 7, Outlook 2003, outlook.pst file located a
N:\relocated\outlook (this is a data drive)

My difficulty:
From outlook - Mail
Click New Mail Message on toolbar
Untitled message opens
Click the To ... button and get a dialogue box "The address list coul
not be displayed. The contacts folder assoicated with this addres
list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, of you d
not have permissions. ..... see... help"
When I click OK, the Select Names dialogue opens. When I click th
down arrow in the Show names drop down I have Outlook Address Book an
two sub entries each called Contacts. Clicking Outlook Address boo
puts "No entries in this address book" into the names list. Click to
Contacts takes me back to addreess list could not be displaye
dialogue, click the bottom Contacts and the Select names dialogue i
fully populated with the entirety of my contacts. I can then select
recipient and complete my mail message.

Other than this all aspects work as they should, if I click on Contact
in the Outlook bar (Folder List) at the left of the screen all contact
appear and can be manipulated normally.

The only pst file on my PC is as shown above. Outlook seems to us
this file properly everywhere but as described above. From Tools
Options - Mail Setup Tab - Data Files, it is the only entry.
Outlook Address Book service seems to be installed: Tools - E-mai
Accounts - Directories and Address Books has a single item "Outloo
Address Book" type = MAPI. The Contacts folder seems to be marked fo
use with the Address Book: File - Folder Properties of Contacts Folde
- Outlook Address Book Tab has a tick in the Show this folder as a
email address book box.

I am mystified, I've searched MS support (and elsewhere!) but othe
than checking the above items, have come up blank. Can anyone pleas
tell me how to put this right

Question has been answered countless times. You have an old, invalid
reference to a Contacts Folder in your address book view. Happens all the
time whenever you migrate data improperly.
Just remove it. Open the Address Book view > Tools > Options. You can't miss
it.

Thanks for the response. However, what precisely is address book view.
I have the Options dialogue up but I cannot see what you are referrin
to.

Can you be a bit more explicit please.

You were the one who was already using and asking about the address book
view. It's what you were using when you clicked on the To: field. Or you can
click on the Address Book icon. That is the Address Book view. Can't be any
more explicit than that.

Thank you, I now see what you were referring to, however I was not awar
of the terminology which made it a bit tricky. We are not all a
