Outlook cannot start unless in Safe Mode

I have my PST file on a usb memory stick. When I open Outlook, it loads and
prompts for PST's password (I use it for security purposes). However, it
begins to load and then freezes up immediately and says "Microsoft Outlook
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience."

It asks to send error report or not and an option to restart outlook, after
which it will restart and then this message pops up: "Outlook fialed to start
correctly last time. Starting Outlook in safe mode will help you correct or
isolate startup problem in order to successfull start the program. Some
functionality may be disabled in this mod."

It asks if I want to start in safe mode and I choose yes and it works fine.
Oddly, when I do this on my desktop, it doesn't have the same problem. Please
help?

is this on a second computer or do you mean when the pst is on the desktop
it works properly?

Sorry. The problem occurs only my laptop. Both Desktop and Laptop are running
XP Home w/ Office XP. Everything has been auto-updated. Any ideas?
