Outlook "not responding"
Outlook loads OK and works for a while but then hangs and will not respond -
if you go to Task manager and end program it does so and when you start it up
again it seems OK - for a while!! I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a
large desktop with Microsoft Office 2007 installed, I use MSN as an ISP and
office connector to keep them in sync.
Any suggestion welcome

Same problem started today. The reading pane disabled itself after
restarting itself three times. Now the reading pane is in the disabled
section and I am not sure if I should reset it to run for fear of Outlook
2007 hanging once again.
Had this problem a few months ago, but it seemed to fix itself until today.

Same issue - ongoing for 5 months. Tried Office Diagnostic and it gave me a
link to a solution for the crashing, but the link doesn't work. Have been
told by a friend that I can try reinstalling the software, but I don't think
this will work. Everytime I try to report the problem to Microsoft, the
system (theirs I assume) crashes part way through. Really hope they notice
that there are almost 10 posts so far on this issue, so not an isolated
problem. I also have the issue that my incomoing emails take ages to download
-much slower than on my older pc that is running Outlook 03.

Would like to add to this post. Am running Outlook 2007; on start up it
freezes and I get error message, "Not Responding", sometimes I have to
restart as many as 3-4 times before emails start downloading. If anyone has
any guidance, it would certainly be appreciated. RLW

I might as well add to the complaint. After I initially boot, Outlook 2007
will work a short while until I open and either close or delete an email
(this seems to be the trigger). Oddly, if I let the computer sit for 15
minutes or longer it generally doesn't seem to freeze (and enter "Not
Responding" mode). After freezing, it's completely unusable, which is
incredibly frustrating ... I've tried other fixes, including setting up a new
profile (I transferred everything from my old OL 2003) and reinstalling the
entire program. Nothing's worked so far. I noticed that I often get an error
message at some point that says something about the "Display driver
nffdsxcfedsdf" or something to that effect ...

I finally got my Outlook 2007 to work as it is supposed to. I went to
Outlook, then tools, trust center and Add-ins and found I had Apples Itunes
as an add-in. I deleted it and has worked fine ever since.
This might be worth looking into. I would also check to see what other
add-ins are running in the trust center.

Thanks for the reply -- actually, I have done that and gotten rid of iTunes
myself previously. There are some others, though -- those remaining are all
Microsoft add-ins, except for one from McAfee, my virus-protection software,
and everytime I try to either disable or remove that, I get the same message:
"The connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
cannot be changed." ... Anyone have any idea what that means (or, otherwise,
what is causing this chronic freezing problem? i've noticed that it seems to
particular occur when I open an email and then either close it out or delete
it ... if i simply minimize the message, outlook won't necessarily freeze).
