Outlook 2007 sort function

I like to sort by a person’s name in my inbox. I just installed 2007 and
tried to sort by someone and it doesn't keep the person’s name in the view.
It automatically starts at the top and makes everything alphabetical. Before
you would highlight the email you want to sort and then click the column you
want to sort by, in this case the From column. It would then sort by all the
emails from John Doe and take you right there. (2003). Now it just sorts the
list and you have to scroll down and find the name you were looking for. Is
this a bug or a feature that will get fixed? Or did they do away from that?
I hope I made since.

cali tech, do a search for "outlook 2007 view sort" and you'll find that a
few of us has had the same issue.

MSFT has acknowled this observation but to me it is a MAJOR BUG since such
trivial functions should be available without any issues. It also occurs if
you sort by subject, etc... Imagine having a folder with hundreds of email
items and it throws you to the top of the list whenever you sort and you'd
have to dig through it all to find out where it was. RIDICULOUS!!

Just out of interest, have you guys tried this hotfix:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938534

There's a fix in there with this description:

You sort your Inbox in ascending order with the oldest messages at the top
of the Inbox. If the newest item in the Inbox is selected, and you switch to
a different folder, the newest item in the Inbox is no longer selected when
you switch back to the Inbox. Instead, an older item is selected near the top
of the Inbox.

While it's not exactly the same as what you've described, it seems feasible
that the fix for the two might be the same...

Hi Cali Tech, have you tried the hotfix suggested by Techiebird?

For my case, it happends intermittently for different folders (sent items,
etc), not only isolated to Inbox. TechieBird, any suggestion?

thx a lot.

Like it says in the article...

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit
the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support

You shouldn't get charged for a hotfix but I'm not sure if you have to
supply card details anyway (I've always been part of a corporate agreement
which works differently) - the people on your country's support number should
be able to talk you through it.
