Outlook 2007 - some email in text some in HTML

I have Outlook 2007, Vista Home Premium, and I load every update that comes
out. Recently, about 2 or so weeks ago (could be more, most definatley not
less), it seems that something happened (maybe in one of the updates) that
causes email to be a little more picky with the formatting of emails. Instead
of seeing beautiful HTML pictures and clickable buttons, I see the HTML
coding of the A HREFs instead. Only the ones for the gifs are clickable. This
effects about 8 out of 10 messages from one sender (as well as other senders,
too, but this is the most noticable and the ones I click on the most).
Unfortunately, I get many emails from them, and the links are multiple lines
long, so copying and pasting into IE is not a time-freindly way to get over
this problem, and that's not a solution, it's a frustrating alternative. I
called Dell for support, but they couldn't find the culpret in my settings
and nothing they did helped. They suggested that I contact the sender of the
email. I did. They said I needed to add them as a contact to my email. I did.
No change. That's when I came looking on the Microsoft website for answers,
hoping if it was an effect of one of the updates, someone else had the
problem and found the fix. But no luck there, either. Sorry this is so long,
but I wanted you to have the details and the steps i have already taken.

Which mail account type are you using?
Which mail client is the sender using?
If your virus scanner integrates with Outlook, disable this integration and
try again.

Account type? POP3 sounds right, but this hasn't changed...I've had the same
ISP for YEARS (I'm loyal when treated right).
The Sender probably doesn't change types between emails, either. The same
sender, whose Customer Support department has given out and told me to ask
Microsoft, sends emails (multiples a day) and some are in good HTML (by that
I mean that I can see the graphics and click on the buttons) and some, on the
same day, are in "bad" HTML, where I see the coding, and only the gifs are
links. And the links, when I click on them, show me the graphic, not take me
to the hyperlink that is suppose to be behind them.

My virus scanner (AVG) says that all emails are clean. Each message has this
message at the bottom, both the good HTMLs and the bad.

No virus found in this incoming message.

Can someone tell me if a recent update to Vista did *anything* to Outlook to
maybe make it more picky with HTML coded emails? And if so, can someone tell
me why they now require, so I can pass it on to the Customer Support
department of the sender of the emails so they are all clickable again.

If the updates are not the problem, then I'll need to use another email
client, and I like Outlook, most of the time. It's what I use at work, and it
just makes it easier to use the same thing at home, too.

Thanks for the try, and the questions. I hope someone can help by knowing
what the weekly, Tuesday updates have been doing to my Outlook.

Nothing is caused by any update or by Microsoft. AVG is the keyword here.
They often cripple the messages by addin their footer. It is a common issue
discussed in this newsgroup countless of times. As I said in my original
reply; disable the integration and try again.

I'm having the exact same problem for the same amount of time as you, and
thinking it was operator error, I've tried everything, but I can't view the
usual html formatted certificates from just two (so far) regular senders.
I've contacted both companies (both travel related) and they seem to think
its something on my end. I did read in another discussion group that Outlook
2007 doesn't support animated gifs. I looked at the html code and they are
..gif (but not animated). So, I'm wondering if ALL .gifs are not supported.
Please let me know if you've found a solution. Thanks.

Deb, I wrote to you that I'm having the same problem and that another
discussion group talked about 2007 Outlook not supporting .gif formats.
ALSO, i wanted to let you know that I also have Vista AND that this is a
recent problem--since installing updates in the last month or two. I've been
using Outlook 2007 for about a year now, so it would seem to me that the
problem might indeed stem from an update. Did you try disabling AVG and was
that your answer? Or, I suppose I could try to uninstall updates, but that
does seem counterproductive in other areas. Hope you've had some success but
just haven't posted the answer yet!
