Outlook Outlook 2007 search

I have given upon Windows instant search as even on an Intel i7 Quad core processor with 3GB ram, Instant search slows down the system, generally interfering with speed of all processes in a way that I just find unacceptable.

I have removed instant search and resorted to using the address book search which if fine for my needs BUT even that does not bring up entries that are quite obviously there in my conatacts.

Is there any answer to this as yet? I have searched the net and am finding only inconclusive stuff at the moment. Does anyone know if Microsoft anything to say other than suggesting stuff that does not work?

If you are using Vista, it looks like SP2 has some search improvements - so it might be worth trying that out (it's in Release Candidate stage now if you're feeling brave):
