Outlook 2007 new contacts - Dean

I seem to have lost the ability to add a new contact to Outlook 2007.
I get to the Address Book:Contacts dialofg box. Then I choose File,
New Entry, New Contact, then OK.

I fill in the display as, home (telephone) and full name fields and it
seems to put the full name response into the displayed as field
automatically.

I then hit save and close. There is no error message, but the new
contact does not appear. Even if I exit Outlook and re-enter, it is
not there in the address book.

I tried it several times. Am I doing something wrong, or is there
some field that must be populated, that I am skipping?

Thanks!
Dean

Works for me here, but you should add a new entry via New-Contact, not via
the addressbook view....

That did not help although if I go to contacts, I do see these there.
I notice that when I click on the address book, the only three fields
that are there are name, dsplay name, and e-mail address. It seems
that, if I did not include an e-mail address (probably all three
fields) in my new contact, then it doens't show up under this "view".
I like to use my contacts for stroing phone numbers, sometimes, for
people who don't use or like e-mail.

Does that make sense? I can't see how to change those three fiedls
either.

Thanks

The address book view has never been the correct interface for entering or
editing Contact data. You are demonstrating that fact yet again.
You enter Contact data in the Contacts Folder since that is where all
Contact data resides.

Correct. The "Addressbook" view is used only for sending an electronic
communication. Thus if your contact does not have either an email address or
a Fax number, then they won't appear in the Addressbook view.

Then use the Contacts function, not the "addressbook" view.
