Outlook 2007 highlighting multiple emails.

All of a sudden in Outlook 2007 I cannot highlight a single email. With one
email highlighted when I click on another email both are highlighted.
When I run Outlook in safe mode the same thing happens.

I have all the current updates.

How can I get my Outlook to highlight a single email again?

What are your mouse settings? Single Click? Double click? Do you have
locking set as on?
