Outlook 2007 - Bugs

Although I am somewhat enjoying Outlook 2007 as far as the layout and
formatting it offers (okay, it's pretty to be sure)... I am quite frustrated
with it's performance.

# 1 issue for me !!!
Everytime it sends/receives the program somewhat hangs and you are unable to
do anything else until it is finished.

This is quite frustating for me since I monitor about a dozen email accounts
and am trying to move down my list of tasks (forwards, replies, new
messages...). I moved my send/receive time to 10 minutes but I am still
finding this a pain in the arse.

2. The loading of the actual visual components such as 'reading pane' or
'sent items' view, dragging emails to folders, or composing and replying to
email often responds slowly. I did find on another post to be sure to keep
your .pst and .ost small because the new outlook 2007 introduced the new data
structure and these issues are more prominent if the files were over 4GB.

Having said that - I wanted to voice my opinion on this... this doesn't make
me a happy camper. I keep things pretty clean and archive often enough but
this restriction is quite frustrating. If anyone finds an easier solution -
that would be great to know! I don't want to spend a day or two having to go
through all these resolutions they offer on their support page every week.

Any outlook " 2007 " gurus out there to assist here? 8o

Both issues are known issues and currently being looked into. You could
contact Microsoft Customer Support to make your voice heard and register
your issues. They might ask you for additional info which would help them
troubleshooting the issue. Most often if the support incident reamins
unsolved for the time being they will contact you again when a patch comes
out.

here, here- these are the issues I asked about in my "how can I stop
Synchronizing Folders" post. Roady responded I should turn off my email virus
scan program because it was not integrating well with Outlook. A solution to
be sure, but it is more like Outlook is not interegrating with it! Outlook
needs to look inward. Good luck to all of us.

That is a different issue not caused by Outlook. The Outlook team doesn't
develop the virus scanner, do they? Also note that virus scanner integration
with Outlook is completely redundant. It uses the same definitions as your
on-access scanner so if you accidentally open a virus it will be caught by
that.

I did find some additional info on the previous posts and tried two things
that helped a little bit for those users that need further assistance like
myself:

1. I closed outlook and then went to C:/documents and
settings/user-directory/local settings/application data/microsoft/outlook/
and changed the extend.dat filename to extend.old

2. In outlook, tools >rules and alerts > options --> upgrade rules

This seems to have helped a smidgen. There are tons of other options to try
obviously from the research (best advice on -
(http://www.roundtripsolutions.com/b...lem-with-outlook-2007-email-receive-is-broken)
but I'm a little exhausted at this issue to try and to be honest - what's
the flickin point? It should be Microsoft who makes the patch to fix these
issues for their users. Not everyone is advanced in using the programs so how
could I teach a basic user to even attempt the lists? ; )
