Outlook 2003 & Vista

Chuck

I have been running Outlook 2003 on Vista for a month. Today when I tried
to open Outlook I get this message: Cannot start MS Outlook. Unable to
open the Outlook window. Th set of folders could not be opened. The server
is not available. Contact administrator.

Help!

I am the administrator. Nothing has changed on my computer. I am not on a
network.

So what mail account are you using then?
The error suggests that it is configured to be used with Exchange but cannot
find the Exchange server.

I'm not sure about some of these questions. Thanks for you help & patience.
I guess my account is through Bellsouth (now AT&T). Prior to this computer,
I used Windows XP, loaded Microsoft Office 2003 onto it and configured
Outlook to use Bellsouth as my e-mail provider. Used it for years with no
problems.

I have had this new computer, HP with Windows Vista Home Premium, for
several months. I loaded Microsoft Office 2003 onto it and configured
Outlook to use Bellsouth as my e-mail provider exactly as I had with the XP.
As I said, I used it for a couple of months and then yesterday it gave the
error message mentioned previously.

I have a laptop with XP and the same Office 2003 loaded on it and I access
my e-mail through it, so I don't think it is a problem with Bellsouth.

So I guess Bellsouth is my server, right?

Come on Roady, give me some help.
I am but note that I'm an end-user just like you spending my own free time
to answer questions in newsgroups. I'm not employed by Microsoft nor do I
get paid for being here. As I answer a lot of posts I simply cannot reply to
any second follow up (and in your case 3rd) within minutes. You'll just have
to be patient. For dedicated support you can contact Microsoft Product
Support.

As for you issue; with this level of information I cannot tell you more than
to check your mail account configuration. You can do this in Control Panel->
Mail.
Recreating your mail profile might be a solution to you;
See http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm
